Adoration in Prayer and Worship

Adoration in Prayer and Worship

Adoration is the effort of the total man to give total expression to his joyful comprehension and approbation of his vision of God in Jesus Christ.” The Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible

As you and I walk through life we can actually have daily communion with Jesus, the Savior of the world and King of the nations. This is an amazing realization. Let’s learn to do it with a heart of adoration in prayer and worship.

The prayer room helps us to keep consciously aware of Christ, not only while we are there but also throughout the day. At a time when everything around us is trying to steal our hearts away from God, we want to learn to behold Him throughout the day. The enemy wants to get us so caught up with busyness that we actually lose our purpose in life. As we discipline our prayer and worship life, we begin to move into a deeper level of adoration.

If you and I can move pass our temporary struggles and learn to adore God for His attributes, we will rise up into a new dimension of relationship with Him. He wants us to recapture adoration in our heart just like the first moments when we were saved out of darkness. Adoration is God-centered rather than self-centered. The following video will help you to live a life of adoration.

“A season of 24-7 prayer can be a useful tool for bringing Christ back into the midst of our ongoing lives as individuals and as communities. And prayer rooms are an interesting expression of God’s intention, which has always been to walk in continual communion with His people.” Peter Greig and Dave Roberts

10 Ways to Pray-Read the Word of God

10 Ways to Pray-Read the Word of God

“Praying the Bible helps our prayer lives because it brings an entirely new focus to what we are praying.” Wesley and Stacey Campbell

Did you know that God wants us to talk with Him as we read His Word? He loves it when we dialogue with Him over what we are reading. He wants us to actively talk with Him in our heart. We gain so much strength as we read His Word and engage in conversation with Him. It’s so simple but makes so much difference in our prayer lives.

The Bible gives us the conversation material for our prayer lives. Prayer becomes easier and more enjoyable as we do this. We speak and pray God’s Truth back to Him. We commune and abide with Him on a deep level. Over time we see great change in our lives and especially in our prayer life.

When the famous missionary, David Livingstone, started travelling across Africa he had 73 of his most valued books with him, weighing 180 pounds. After his party had gone 300 miles, he decided to throw away some of his books because he was totally exhausted from carrying them. As he continued, his library grew smaller and smaller. By the end of His journey He had one book left, his most important one – His Bible! Having our Bibles and pray-reading God’s Word should be our most precious possession as well.

When we pray-read the Bible, God teaches us in a way that is tailor-made for us personally. We say new things to Him and we pray with more creativity. It’s amazing. The Holy Spirit prays through us and gives us new insights as we pray, but how can we do this in the most effective way? How do we pray-read God’s Word?

How to Pray-Read the Word of God

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide (live) in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).

Here are 10 ways to pray-read the Bible:

  1. Pray the promises to believe – When we read a promise in the Bible, we turn it into a conversation with Jesus.
  2. Thank God and declare trust – With the promises in Scripture, we thank God for the promise and declare our trust in it.
  3. Ask for more understanding – We ask for more understanding of a particular truth.
  4. Pray the exhortations to obey while reading – These exhortations can relate to our speech, work, food, attitudes, service, relationships, and more.
  5. Commit to obey the truth – Make simple declarations of our resolve to obey it.
  6. Ask God for empowerment – We ask God to help us to obey by giving us wisdom, motivation, and power to obey.
  7. Pray slowly and softly – Short phrases are good. We don’t need to shout or preach to God.
  8. Take time to journal – Record your thoughts as you pray-read the Bible. Journaling helps us to capture the truths that God wants to give us.
  9. Pray-read the descriptions of Jesus – There are 30 descriptions of Jesus in Revelation 1-3 alone. We can worship God with these descriptions and ask Him for more insight into what they mean to our lives.
  10. Use the acronym A-R-K – Think of the Ark of the Covenant where God’s presence dwelt, and then do the following three things:

A – Agreement – Agree with who Jesus is in a specific way. Declare truth about who He is.

R – Revelation – Ask for revelation as to each of the 30 descriptions. Ask for more insight and a spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17).

K – Keep the prophesy – Ask for help to apply the commands and plans of Jesus in the book of Revelation, and ask Him to give you faith and help you to obey.

I encourage you to start pray-reading the Word of God on a regular basis. You will be amazed at all that God has to say to you from His Word as you dialogue with Him. You will grow in your effectiveness in prayer, as God leads you into thrilling depths and greater heights in your relationship with Him.

This Intercessors Arise course will help you to develop a life that powerfully prays God’s Word.Pray-reading the Bible and a multitude of other dynamic teachings to help you grow in praying the Bible are included. It’s called: How to Powerfully Pray God’s Word for Breakthrough.” Check it out here:

How to Powerfully Pray God’s Word for Breakthrough

“The Bible is actually a whole book of spiritual words! The Bible will teach you the language of God so that you can effectively communicate to Him. When you speak from the Bible in your prayers, you will be led to an entirely different place in prayer—one you might’ve not thought was humanly possible, simply because the language of the Bible is so absolutely different than our own.” Wesley and Stacey Campbell

Extended Times of Personal Prayer

Extended Times of Personal Prayer

“Like flying over the battlefield in a reconnaissance plane, a day of prayer gives opportunity to think of the world from God’s point of view. Especially when going through some difficulty we need this perspective to sharpen our vision of the unseen and to let the immediate, tangible things drop into proper place. Our spiritual defenses are strengthened while we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.” Lorne Sandy

We all need to sharpen our vision of God by fixing our eyes on the eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18). Our view of what is really important sharpens dramatically when we give Him our time. We are made to dwell with God. He inhabits our lives and desires our relationship. He is always with us, longing for our attention.

It would seem that in the coming days we must seek Him with more passion, more intensity, and with singleness of heart. We must have the mind of Christ and see from His eternal perspective. We are His earthly habitation.

Your greatest victory, your deepest revelation, your highest joy is likely to come when you give God extended time. We are made to behold His beauty.

However God leads you, it is very important to make time for those valuable periods of personal prayer. This video can hep you.

The Fragrance of Humility in Prayer

The Fragrance of Humility in Prayer

“There are two ways to attain high esteem. One is the world’s method: Take every opportunity to promote yourself before others, seize occasions for recognition and manipulate your way into the center of attention. The other way is God’s way: Humble yourself. Rather than striving for recognition and influential positions, seek to put others first… One of the many paradoxes of the Christian life is that when God sees your genuine humility, He exalts you.” Henry Blackaby

Leonard Bernstein, the late conductor of the New York Philharmonic orchestra was asked what was the most difficult instrument to play. Without hesitation he replied, “The second fiddle! I can get plenty of first violinists, but to find someone who can play the second fiddle with enthusiasm—that’s a problem. And if we have no second fiddle, we have no harmony.”This is the problem we as Christians face. We don’t easily want to play second fiddle because it’s too humbling a position. We want to be important.

As we evaluate our life, what is one of the best things we can give one another, and especially those in our own family? Perhaps we can offer a humble heart—a heart that looks out for the interests of others and is not self-seeking or proud, a heart that serves and loves unconditionally, and a heart that cultivates humility in prayer.

Isn’t this what Jesus wants in our life? He hates pride and selfish ambition, but He loves the meek and lowly. This video will help you to cultivate humility in your own life.

My Prayer for God’s Presence

My Prayer for God’s Presence

“God longs to open doors of spiritual reality to us. He wants us to sit with Him in heavenly places. We must live with a spiritual vantage point from the throne room of God. The throne of God is the seat of His authority; it represents the place from which He rules and reigns over the nations. Jesus invites us to this place of authority and victory.” Rhonda Hughey

The purpose of our life is to pursue God. It is what we were created to do. God wants us to seek and long passionately for His presence. His presence is real and tangible. It will change our lives completely. The problem is that most of us are not aware of what is available to us. Our hearts are not burning for God, and we have settled for lesser things.

God’s presence is needed to reach our cities. The breath of His Spirit will change the face of everything, including our own lives. He loves to be sought after. His presence and Spirit will move us forward into realms of fruitfulness beyond our wildest imagination. But we must hoist our sails and catch the wind of His Spirit. He is looking throughout the earth for those who will give themselves to prayer and to seeking His face. (2 Chronicles 16:9),

The following animated video is a prayer that will help you to partner with God as you seek His face and His presence both personally and for your city.

Reaching Your City Through the Prayer – Care – Share Lifestyle

Reaching Your City Through the Prayer – Care – Share Lifestyle

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

God wants us to let our light shine. Every time we pray with someone who does not know Christ, share our testimony, or do a little act of kindness, we are lighting a candle in someone’s life which could eventually lead to their salvation.

For several years my husband and I were involved in what we call the: “Prayer – Care – Share” or “Lighthouse”  Lifestyle. This is a tremendous way to add passion to your daily prayer life. This lifestyle is basically three things—praying, caring, and sharing the light of Jesus with the lost. Prayer will empower our caring and sharing with those who do not know Christ, and sharing with the lost will empower our prayer life. It all works together.

We want to spread His fragrance everywhere we go. We want to pray for individuals and families in our communities and work environments. We want to show that we care through simple acts of kindness. These two combined will open opportunities to share our hope in Christ.

The Devil’s Tool of Discouragement

The Devil’s Tool of Discouragement

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God” (Psalm 42:11).

Do you ever feel discouraged? We all do at one time or another. We live in a fallen world where we are trying to bring God’s Kingdom to earth through our prayers. Dark feelings can overwhelm us when we are emotionally down, but we need to realize that even the greatest of saints got discouraged. Did you know that famous preachers like Charles Spurgeon and mighty evangelists like Billy Graham got discouraged?

John the Baptist faced discouragement while in prison. He was a man of God who was facing doubts in that dark prison cell. He asked Jesus, “’Are you the coming One, or do we look for another?'” Certainly John should have known who Jesus was, but there was a great warfare against this forerunner and prophet of God. He had to guard his heart against offense and the inability to understand.

We also can face moments of deep darkness and discouragement in the midst of spiritual battles, especially in prayer. The following animated video will help you to understand the devil’s tool of discouragement.
